Skijor is THIS weekend. Here’s what you need to know:

Skijor blends skiing, horsepower, and pure winter adrenaline. Skiers are pulled down the course by a horse and rider at full speed, hitting jumps, grabbing rings, and giving the crowd plenty to cheer for.

Here are the answers to the most common questions we’re getting:

• Is it happening? Yes. Even if it means bringing in extra snow or making our own, Skijor is on.

• Team changes? Changes can be made at competitor check-in Friday from 3–6 PM.

• Dogs? No dogs. Service dogs are allowed but not trackside for competitor safety.

• Do kids need tickets? Kids under 8 are free. Ages 9+ need a general admission ticket.

• Parking? Parking is managed by the Estes Park High School baseball team as a fundraiser. $5 per car. The main lot will fill fast, then the high school, then the parking garage. If you’re arriving around noon Saturday, expect a walk.

Happy Thanksgiving!

At Boulder Brook , we are thankful for our animal friends and lovely mountain setting.
We are thankful for our wonderful front desk, housekeeping and maintenance teams, that make the property sparkle.
And of course, we are thankful for our many guests, new visitors and old friends, whose presence brings us joy year-round.

Just yesterday, we were visited by this majestic elk.
Estes Park brings us so much to be thankful for…

With a warm fall season, Trail Ridge Road managed to stay open until November 14. Now closed for the season, it’s a sign that cooler weather is approaching and winter will start soon…

Today, Friday, November 14, 2025, Trail Ridge Road (U.S. Highway 34) inside Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) officially closed to through travel for the winter season. Trail Ridge Road is closed on the east side of the park at Many Parks Curve and on the west side of the park at Colorado River Trailhead.

With 11 miles of road located at elevations above 11,500 feet, few guard rails, and no shoulders, Trail Ridge Road is not designed to be an all-season road. Winter conditions of drifting snow, high winds and below- freezing temperatures occur above 10,000 feet. Trail Ridge Road normally closes in mid-October and opens to thru travel during the last week in May, weather permitting. In 2025, Trail Ridge Road opened on Friday, May 30.

Interested in taking a scenic drive inside the park this winter? There are several popular scenic driving destinations open this time of year, including Bear Lake Road, Endovalley Road, Trail Ridge Road on the west side of RMNP from Grand Lake Entrance to the Colorado River Trailhead and Trail Ridge Road on the east side of RMNP to Hidden Valley and Many Parks Curve.
