One of our favorite ways to enjoy Estes Park is a walk along the **Lake Estes Trail**. With beautiful mountain views, peaceful lakeside scenery, and opportunities to spot local wildlife, it's a wonderful place to slow down and soak in the beauty of the Rockies. 🦌🌲

And the best part? It's just down the road from Estes Mountain Inn!

We're enjoying some beautiful fall colors right now, and the elk rut is still underway! If you've been thinking about a trip to Estes Park, there's still time to experience some of the magic of autumn in the Rockies. 🏔️

A little Estes Park rut season magic. 🦌🍂

We didn’t catch this handsome bull elk bugling on camera, but he certainly didn’t need to make a sound to get our attention! There’s nothing quite like seeing these incredible animals around town during the fall.

September is such a special time to visit Estes Park—cooler days, changing leaves, elk around town, and plenty of mountain views. 🏔️

🍁 Fall festival season is here in Estes Park! 🏔️🍂

There’s something special happening all fall long, and it’s one of our favorite times of year to visit. Mark your calendars for some of the fun still to come:

🍺 Autumn Gold Festival — September 26–27
🦌 Elk Fest — October 3–4
🎃 Pumpkins & Pilsners — October 10
🥃 Rocky Mountain Craft Spirits Festival — November 7
🎄 And then Estes Park starts transitioning into the holiday season with the Tree Lighting Ceremony, Festival of Trees and Catch the Glow festivities later in November!

Festival weekends are a blast—but here's a little Estes Park tip: come up during the week if you'd rather skip the crowds. ❤️ September and October weekdays can be wonderful, with cooler mountain air, changing leaves, active elk and a little more room to slow down and enjoy town and Rocky Mountain National Park.

🍂 Take the scenic route to Estes Park this fall! 🏔️

If you’re coming to Estes Park through Lyons, consider taking Highway 7 through Allenspark and along the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway instead of the usual route through Pinewood Springs.

It only adds about 15–20 minutes to the drive, and we think it’s absolutely worth it—especially in the fall! 🍁 You’ll get beautiful mountain views, colorful aspens, and some pretty incredible views of Longs Peak along the way. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a little early-season snow dusting the high peaks. ❄️

One of our favorite stops is Crystal Springs in Allenspark. Bring a water bottle or gallon jug and stop to fill it with fresh spring water before continuing on to Estes. 💧
It’s an easy little detour that turns the drive into part of your Rocky Mountain adventure.

🚗 And then on to Estes Park!

If you’re visiting Estes Mountain Inn this fall, we definitely recommend taking the scenic way at least once. Sometimes getting here is half the fun. ❤️
