Most RMNP visitors don't find out about the permit system until they're at the gate. 🏔️

Here's the deal: Rocky Mountain National Park requires a timed entry permit from late May to mid-October. You have to book it in advance at recreation.gov — they sell out.

Two permits, depending on where you're going:
- Bear Lake Road Corridor — required 5 AM to 6 PM
- Rest of Park — required 9 AM to 2 PM

💡 Pro tip: enter BEFORE the window starts and you don't need a permit at all. Roll up to Bear Lake Road before 5 AM, or the rest of the park before 9 AM (or after 2 PM), and you can drive right in.

Casa de Cristal is under 10 minutes from the entrance, so you can be at the gate before the line forms and back in time for coffee on the deck.

📌 Save this for your trip.

Most stays separate you from the landscape.
Here, the view becomes part of the space. Light enters fully. The horizon stays visible from where you rest, sit and wake up.
This changes how you experience time in the morning.

A deck. A railing. A view that does most of the work.

We've had guests ask over the years if they could exchange vows here and the answer, quietly, is yes. Not a wedding venue. Not a reception spot. Just a beautiful place for a handful of people to stand at the edge of the mountains and promise each other something.

If an intimate ceremony is what you're picturing, a few witnesses, a simple vow exchange, maybe a dinner afterward. We'd love to hear what you have in mind.

Reach out anytime and we'll talk it through together.

There's a reason a big view feels like exhaling.

Your nervous system responds to space. Wide views, taken in from somewhere safe, tell your body it can stand down — stress eases, attention recovers, the focusing muscles in your eyes finally let go.

It isn't just scenery. It's biology.

Summer is better when shared. 🏔️🥂

Planning a family reunion or a mountain retreat for a large group? Finding a space that balances sophisticated design with communal comfort can be a challenge, but at Casa de Cristal, we’ve mastered the art of the "Group Sanctuary."

Why we are the ultimate RMNP basecamp:

Space for 10+: With a capacity for 10 or more guests, there is ample room for the entire group to gather without ever feeling crowded.

The Great Room: Our open-concept living area and expansive dining table are designed for long conversations and shared meals against a backdrop of the Continental Divide.

The Outdoor Living: From morning coffee on the deck to starlit evenings in the whirlpool bath, our outdoor spaces are an extension of the home’s luxury.

The Location: We are just minutes from the park entrance, making it easy for the group to split up for different adventures and meet back at "home" for sunset.

Our summer calendar is filling quickly as the "Great Thaw" begins. Now is the time to secure your dates for a legendary summer reunion.

Do you believe in mountain mysteries? 👣🌲

While Casa de Cristal is a sanctuary of modern design, the mountains surrounding us hold stories as old as the peaks themselves. This week, Estes Park leans into its most elusive history.

April 24–25 marks the return of Bigfoot Days. This isn't just a quirky local festival; it’s a gathering of researchers, TV celebrities, and enthusiasts who have spent decades studying the "Wild Man of the Woods."

1. The BBQ Kickoff (Friday, April 24): A ticketed dinner where you can actually dine and mingle with the researchers and experts.

2. The Free Festival (Saturday, April 25): Head to Bond Park for live music, a "Bigfoot Calling" contest, and local craft vendors.
-The Half Marathon & 5K: For those who want to test their speed on the trails—whether you're being "chased" by a legend or just chasing a personal best.

Whether you're a skeptic or a believer, the energy in town this weekend is electric. After a day of exploring the folklore, retreat to the quiet luxury of our deck and keep one eye on the treeline. You never know what you might see from our floor-to-ceiling windows.

The mountains are waking up. 🏔️🐑

While the high peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park are still deep in snow, the valleys are beginning their spring transformation. April offers a unique "front-row seat" to nature if you know where to look.

The Bighorn Sheep (The Valley Migration):
In the spring, the iconic Bighorn Sheep descend to lower elevations like Sheep Lakes or Big Thompson Canyon. They are looking for the "green-up"—the first nutrient-rich grass of the season.

Local Tip: Early morning or dusk are the best times for a sighting, often right from the safety of your car!

The Pasqueflower (The Brave Bloomers):
Keep your eyes on the sunny, south-facing hillsides. The Pasqueflower is the first to arrive. These hardy purple blooms are covered in tiny "hairs" that act like a fur coat against the April frost.

After a morning of wildlife spotting, retreat to the warmth of Casa de Cristal. There’s nothing quite like watching the sunset over the range from our deck, knowing the wilderness is just steps away.

Are you a wildlife watcher or a wildflower seeker? Tell us which one you’re hoping to spot on your next visit! 👇
