🍂 Fall festival season is here in Estes Park! 🍁🏔️

The Autumn Gold Festival is September 26–27, 2026, bringing a full weekend of live music, food, drinks and family fun to Bond Park in downtown Estes Park! The festival runs Saturday from 11 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.–5 p.m.

These photos are from last year’s festival, and we’re looking forward to doing it all again!

Fall in Estes Park lasts well beyond one weekend. 🍁 We have lots of fun festivals and events throughout September and October, along with elk rut, cooler mountain weather and, of course, the changing leaves.

The trees aren’t at peak just yet, so there’s still plenty of fall color to come! If busy festival weekends aren’t your thing, sneak away for a weekday stay instead.

🦌🍂 It’s elk rut season in Estes Park!

One of our favorite times of year has officially arrived. The elk are bugling, wandering around town, and apparently stopping by Hotel Estes to check out the flowers! 🌼😂

September and October are such a special time to visit — crisp mountain air, changing leaves, incredible wildlife, and beautiful days in Rocky Mountain National Park. You truly never know where you’ll spot an elk around here!

If you’re visiting during the rut, remember these guys are wild (and the bulls are especially protective this time of year), so always admire them from a safe distance. 🦌

🦌 Well… looks like we had a special guest stop by Hotel Estes this week!

Our amazing Head Housekeeper, Lulu, captured this video of an elk casually making its way through the Hotel Estes parking lot earlier this week. Just another day in Estes Park! 😂🏔️

And while we're giving credit where it's due, we have to give Lulu a little shout-out too. ❤️ She has been with us since around when we purchased Hotel Estes in 2012, and she does an incredible job helping take care of our property and our guests year after year. We're very lucky to have her — and apparently she makes a pretty great wildlife videographer, too! 📹🦌

September is such a magical time in Estes Park. The elk rut is underway, bugles can be heard around town, and you truly never know when one of these guys might wander by.

And remember: as fun as it is to see elk this close to town, always give them plenty of space and enjoy them from a safe distance.
