Thank you to everyone who joined us for Alligator Awareness Weekend! Our interpretative team had an incredible weekend with you! From cruising the water on our guided boat tour, searching for alligators at dusk, learning new skills in our fishing and photography workshops, creating beautiful gyotaku fish prints, enjoying an expert talk that deepened our appreciation for Alligators, to swearing in new Junior Rangers. Your excitement and curiosity made the whole weekend unforgettable. We’re already looking forward to next year’s Alligator Awareness Weekend and can’t wait to share even more adventures with you!

Alligator Awareness Weekend is a fun and educational celebration designed to help visitors learn how to safely share the landscape with one of Alabama’s most iconic native species. From live demonstrations to guided boat tours, this weekend is packed with exciting opportunities for families, nature lovers, and anyone curious about our local wildlife.

This year, we’re also honored to highlight the legacy of William Bartram, one of America’s earliest and most influential naturalists. Our special exhibit showcases Bartram’s groundbreaking observations of Southeastern wildlife, including the American alligator, and explores how his work continues to shape modern conservation!
