Who would ever believe that after almost 200 years of serving as a resting place for weary travelers and horses, this 65 acres of land would continue its tradition and become the site of a beautiful Holiday Inn complete with guest rooms, banquet & meeting space, Haymarket Restaurant and an indoor recreation area with indoor swimming, sauna, whirlpool, arcade, shuffle board, putting green and Terrace Bar.
At the turn of the 19th century, the Indians who dwelled in this portion of Missouri dug deep springs on the present Holiday Inn at Six Flags acreage to be used in times of drought. Later, as more people traveled by stagecoach, the land became know as the “Deep Springs Stagestop,” an oasis for travelers seeking the first good water.
Constructed by Irish stone masons, the L-shaped limestone structure that serves as the center of the complex was originally envisioned as a farm for people escaping the growing city. Today, those handcrafted limestone walls, detailed woodwork and decorative brickwork provide a backdrop of warmth and comfort to vacationing families and business travelers alike. Soft lighting surrounds the old work craftsmanship, making it a special place for a special occasion.
