The first snow of the season hit the region this morning. I think we are in for a great winter season ahead.

We've got some of the best winter recreation in the state, right outside our door.

If you like to ski, snowboard, snowshoe, or snowmobile, Eustis is a great place to be in the winter.

We have some good news for our club. We now have a connection back from Split Rock Trail to Sawyer Brook Trail. We are very thankful for a good working relationship with Wagner Forest Management and our guys out of the trails to make this happen. The connection from the north end of the trail that says closed is still closed but the bypass is off from Sawyer Brook Trail. At the Tea Pond/Sawyer Brook/Tim Pass intersection (9) you will take the short section to the left that heads over to Sawyer Brook Road. Once you come out onto Sawyer Brook Road you will take a left down to Tim Pond Road. Turn right and go up Tim Pond Road 1 mile where you will take a left onto the new connector trail down to Split Rock. When you get to Split Rock Trail you will be able to go right only ( there is a locked gate on the left side) and head over towards Rock Hill and Canyon Trail. We were given this new connection on a trial basis. There are 2 very important things that could shut this down and if that happens there will be no more Split Rock Trail at all. Tim Pond Road is a very active and heavy trucking road, they have the right of way and ATV'ers need to stay to the far right and travel in single file while on the road. The second is we have permission to travel just the 1 mile, if they see atver's traveling on other sections of the road the trail will be shut down immediately. There maybe some times where it will be closed during the week and use only on weekends. Hopefully those will be few and far between. The short section between Sawyer Brook Road and intersection 9 use to be rocky, muddy, hairpin corners and bouncing off trees but has been all redone to a nice trail, there is no reason for going down Tim Pond Road to avoid the old trail. We have lost so much this year that given the opportunity to get a trail back is very important to this club. Please follow the signage and enjoy having this shortcut from Rangeley to Eustis . As President of the Club I have heard from landowners that our riders have been for the most part very respectful, staying on the trails and keeping the speed down where needed. I thank you, it makes keeping what trails we have left easier.

Snow has returned up in Eustis Ridge. Another good storm or two, and the trails will be open. 🌨️❄️🌨️

Very few dates remain for the winter season. Some of the best snowmobiling, skiing, and snowshoeing in the state.
