Dog Sled Ride in Fairbanks, Alaska

We offer an exciting and scenic dog sled tour in the heart of dog sledding country on Chena Hot Springs Road near Fairbanks, Alaska. The ride through spruce and birch forests takes about 45 minutes, but plan on about an hour and half for the entire experience. First, we help dress you in our selection of winter clothes and boots so that you can stay comfortable on the trip. Then you get to watch as we harness the dogs to get ready for the run. There will be lots of time to take photos before, during, and after the run. We actually stop half-way and let you get out to stretch and take photos.

Your Hosts:

Sandy and Bill McKee have been raising sled dogs since 1993. They have both participated in the 1,000 mile Iditarod International Sled Dog Race and a variety of 200 and 300 mile races. They now enjoy sharing their knowledge and experiences with visitors.

Our Guides:

Emily Rosenblatt has had sled dogs since she was a young girl in Maine. She and her husband, Richie, have raised a competitive dog team which has placed 2nd and 3rd in two of most prestigious races in the Alaskan Interior. Although her primary focus isn’t racing, she enjoys training the dogs and going on camping trips.

Joanna Jagow grew up on a trapline with her family on the Porcupine River in northeastern Alaska. She has had dogs as long as she can remember. She has finished eight middle-distance races (100-300 miles) and has recently finished first in the Two Rivers 100 twice and 3rd and, most recently, 2nd in the Yukon Quest 300.

Lia Amundsen is a “Totally Two Rivers Girl”, having grown up with sled dogs in this area. Most of her racing experience is also local. She raced in a variety of the Two Rivers races including the 200, the 100, and the 50.
