Has the University Fire Department made a difference for you, your family, or your business?

The University Fire Department is made up of young college students who balance classes and studying with answering emergency calls. In March 2025, they helped save Pike's Landing from a devastating fire. Last year, we started the Boots and Books Scholarship Dinner to thank them and give back.

This year, we want to show these students how much their everyday work means to our community. A single call on an ordinary shift can change a person's life, a family's home, or a local business.

If they've made a difference for you, we'd love to hear your story. We'll share selected testimonials at the second annual Boots and Books Scholarship Dinner on Thursday, October 15, as a way to honor the department. You can attend and share your story in person, or we can read it aloud for you.

To share your story, email Elizabeth at [email protected].

Let's show these students how much Fairbanks appreciates them.
