Angry bees today! 🐝😡💥💥😡🐝
Having a log house means that every few years, there’s a ton of work to do. Jon was prepping the house for stain when the bees decided he was a little too close for comfort. Needless to say, he got zapped twice!
It’s the time of year when the bees get a little spicy as they search for resources. There are still plenty of goldenrod fields, but that’s about all that’s left. And, of course, they aren’t too happy that their hives suddenly feel smaller after we removed the honey supers yesterday! 🍯

🍁 Question of the Day:
Are the yellow and orange colors in fall leaves newly created in autumn?
Answer:
Usually, no! Those pigments were in the leaves all summer but were hidden by green chlorophyll. As daylight decreases and chlorophyll production slows, the hidden colors appear.

Fresh eggs, happy hens, and the familiar sounds of the coop are just a few of the simple things that make homestead life so rewarding. 🐓🥚 I love seeing the joy on guests (and grandkids) faces when they hand feed treats to the chickens and gather fresh warm eggs. Simple blessings.
