We’ve been trying to host Captain Suni Williams at Marine Lodge for several years. Tonight, she spent the evening with us, our families, and guests sharing her journey from the Needham schools, through the US Naval Academy, becoming a test pilot, and most recently her voyages on the Space Shuttle and resident on the International Space Station.

Brother John Rodgers and bis wife, Sandy, make a generous donation to an important Falmouth Institution.

John & Sandy Rodgers, long-time supporters of the museum, recently donated their tall case clock to the Society. The clock had been on loan to the Society for several years previous to this donation. John is a former board member, and he wanted to donate this piece in memory of his late best friend Charlie Hauck (1941-2023), also a former board member. This donation is a wonderful gift to the Society. The tall case clock was made by Abraham Edwards of Ashby, Massachusetts (1761-1840). The case is pine and cherry made probably c. 1820. Abraham Edwards worked as a silversmith from 1780-1794 in Ashby, Massachusetts. The clock was once in John and Sandy's former historic Captain Nathaniel Eldred House in West Falmouth, which is the same house that the wallpaper (in the front hallway at Wick House) came from, so therefore it is especially lovely that they have a tie to the same house. The wallpaper was donated to the historical society by an earlier owner of Captain Nathaniel Eldred's house, Mrs. Carleton Bourne, in 1948. The paper was painstakingly removed and installed in the Wicks House by William J. Young from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Happy Anniversary to us!
Today marks the official 225th Anniversary of Marine Lodge, which received its charter on March 13, 1798, from Grand Master M. W. Josiah Bartlett. Marine Lodge is the 25th oldest Lodge in the jurisdiction and the 3rd oldest on Cape Cod.

M.W. George Forest Hamilton of Westborough was installed as the 91st Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts in a ceremony held on December 27 at the fraternity’s Boston headquarters. He will preside over more than 200 lodges and 20,000 members throughout the Commonwealth, Panama, Chile, Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, and Japan for the next three years.
