True Story: Friday night the Clarkson family (not their real name) calls, anxiously asking if we have three rooms available for them, their two children and their two dogs. They had just driven five hours and arrived at their hotel, only to find that it looked different from the website photos that had caused them to book. Also, the surly guy at the reception desk made it clear the two kids weren't welcome. We were able to host them, and enjoyed their company for two days and three nights. At checkout, the father said to us: "Do you know what you've done? My daughter has announced she will refuse to stay in a hotel from now on. She will only stay at a bed and breakfast!" Somehow, we don't feel guilty.

A house full of guests, young and old, enjoying the holiday weekend, not minding the faint drizzle in the slightest. This morning, we discovered this magnificent guy in the garden, freshly opened, with a dazzling display of royal hues. Happy Memorial Day to our guests and friends!

Picture this: You set out, the fur baby with you in the car, and a few hours later you're here, in a completely different world from the city. You start with a nap, the fireplace in your room quietly warming you. Refreshed, you stroll into historic Falmouth Village for a lobster-induced endorphin bomb. So good! A short walk later, you're at the beach, just in time for a magical sunset. As the sun starts to caress and then slip below the incandescent waters, you sit in the silence and feel completely, totally at peace, first time in weeks. Yes, that utterly ideal, perfect weekend is off to a good start!
