If you’re planning a trip between September and November, this is one of the best windows to go. Cooler weather makes long days outside easier, Gauley rafting season is underway, climbing conditions are strong, and the park gets quieter as the season goes on.

2- See the Glade Creek Grist Mill at Babcock State Park
3- Explore the preserved railroad town of Thurmond

Make sure you save this post now, because you’ll want to add this one ot your bucket list!
At New River Gorge National Park, you can walk more than half a mile across a narrow catwalk suspended 851 ft in the air- that’s nearly three Statues of Liberty above the deep gorge below!
You’re securely clipped into a safety line the entire time…
But when you step onto the catwalk and look over the edge, your stomach still drops knowing you’re walking across the longest steel arch bridge in the United States.
This is easily one of the most unforgettable experiences you can have in a national park.

I get why people romanticize A-frame cabins now!
There’s something special about sitting in silence, watching deer walk past giant windows while you’re making coffee in the middle of the mountains.
And somehow this also happens to be only 5 minutes from New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.
That’s what makes Star Farm so special! Most cabins make you choose between convenience or isolation but this gives you both!
You can spend the day hiking overlooks, driving through the gorge, and chasing waterfalls, then grab some dinner and come back to the cabin for a spectacular night experience…
During our stay we spotted fireflies in the field around the cabin and watched thousands of stars light up the night sky!
This is easily one of the best cabin stays we’ve experienced near the New River Gorge.

Starting construction on our new business center and housekeeping quarters. Guests will be able to rent the business center by the hour in case they need to take any business meetings. The housekeeping quarters will store all of the consumables, linens, and cleaning supplies needed to keep Star Farm nice and clean for our guests
