A prominent Holland family broke ground on converting Fennville’s historic Stevens Hotel into an 11-room boutique inn that celebrates the area’s vineyards and cideries.
Siblings Hopwood, Dori and Dana DePree, along with their mother, Deanna DePree, plan to convert the historic 1910 structure in downtown Fennville into a hotel, restaurant and event venue called the Wine Trail Inn. They expect the year-round facility at 312 E. Main St. to open in summer 2026.
“With the wineries and the fruit culture that’s been in West Michigan and the Fennville area for so many decades, it just felt like (this name) really was something that appeals to not only the locals, but also to people visiting from all over the country,” Hopwood DePree said in an interview on Monday. “We really wanted a name that was going to fit in with that draw.”
Dori DePree added it’s been rewarding working with the city of Fennville to get this project off the ground.
“Everything about it’s been really exciting — what we can see (it will be in) the future, as well as every step along the way, just working with the city and everyone that’s come out to talk to us,” she said. “It’s just been a really great experience.”
