We are surrounded by meadows with dairy cows, horses, mountain views and a cool ocean breeze. The Pacific Ocean is only a few miles away and magnificent forests surround rolling farmlands. The beautiful North Coast is perfect for sightseeing, relaxing, hiking, and exploring. Of note, Ferndale was the location for the movie The Majestic and many others. Its beauty and charm has lent itself to many filmmaking projects, events and awards. In fact, Forbes magazines named Ferndale one of "America's Prettiest Towns." It is an ideal getaway from the busy modern world and never fails to enchant visitors. Most people agree, coming to our wonderful Victorian village is like taking a trip back to a simpler time, but with a splash of modern eclecticism that makes the experience truly unique. Ferndale also hosts the annual Humboldt County Fair in August-September and is the last leg of the world famous Kinetic Sculpture Race on Memorial Day weekend. The Humboldt County Fairgrounds are only one block away from the Red Barn Cottage, easy walking distance. Ferndale is also known as Cream City. Getting around

In the midst of a blistering California heat wave, a trip to charming Ferndale on the cool North Coast can be just the breath of fresh air you need.

San Francisco Chronicle just named Ferndale one of the best small towns to visit this summer in California, and we couldn’t agree more (although we’re admittedly pretty biased).

With outdoor activities, fewer people and lots of charm, small towns like the Victorian Village are a welcome escape from the everyday. What’s your favorite small town to visit?

We are so lucky to call this beautiful corner of the world our home!❤️

Did you know we are just a short drive from the tallest trees on Earth? Whether you drive north or south, you will be mesmerized by the Redwood Forest.

South you will find the Avenue of the Giants, a scenic Highway spanning 31 miles along the Redwood forest. You will find tourist attractions, beautiful scenery and fresh air.

Or head north to the Redwood National State Parks that are a string of protected forests, beaches and grasslands along the coast. A little farther away if you’re staying in Ferndale, but still beautiful with a lot to see!
