As some of you may know Sportsmans Resort was sold the summer. Steve has remained on through November to help with the transition. Jim and I purchased a home and 10 acres off the river right down from Sportsmans. He is currently living there and is going in on a regular basis to help out as well.

The new owners have taken on a massive remodel of the property. They have also changed the name to White River Trout Club. They are currently working on a website and a logo.

It has been bittersweet letting the resort go. After 16 years of hosting wonderful guests, and making new friends it’s been difficult for all of us.

If you wish to give Jim or Steve a call the phone number at the resort has remained the same 870-453-2424 and chances are Steve will answer the phone.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to to Dr Cook

In 1963 the Cooks, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, found Sportsmans. They had two small children and were expecting their third. 58 years later, Sportsmans remains the family's favorite getaway. Their grandchildren even love to come here to fish, swim and just be together.
It has been a pleasure to host the Cooks for their family visits each year. Jim ,Steve , and I feel privileged to have seen their family grow over the last 16 years. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Cook family. He will be deeply missed.

Hi all,
Sportsmans welcomes you and your family to 2021. The last year has been different to say the least. It’s like a “recession of the mind”. Other than mass cancellations last March and April we have been lucky. Covid almost felt like it was a “somewhere else “disease. We didn’t have very many mandates other than wearing a mask at Walmart.
Here at the resort we concentrated on super cleaning and disinfecting. We were lucky enough to get the supplies we needed including toilet paper🤣🤣🤣, and the guests came. They came for the fishing of course, but also to just get out of town and into the fresh air,and open wide spaces of the White River.
If there is an official start to the 2021 fishing season it is Monday, February 1, 2021. The catch and release area at the dam opens. Closed since November for the brown spawn, Monday will bring hundreds of boats and fisherman and women to the river for a chance for the big brown of a lifetime. The mega fish lottery so to speak. So off we go!
Please plan to visit us soon. We always look forward to seeing old friends again and to meet and make new friends.

Lastly we are looking for the “right buyer” for Sportsmans Resort. It’s been a great 16 year run, and if you know anyone that would be interested have them give us a call. Wishing you and your family’s health and happiness in 2021. And of course the fishing is great!

Hi everybody first week in November looks to be gorgeous.Everyday in the 70s, nights in the 50s. The river running about 2 to 3 generators today,perfect time for the last getaway give us a buzz bye call 870-453-2424 talk to Jim or Steve and get your reservation now!
