2026 Florida Sea Turtle Nesting Season: Mid-Season Update!

Our coastal shores have been busy! The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has released the preliminary nesting counts as of June 30th, and the numbers show just how vital our beaches are for these incredible marine species.

Here is a look at the progress so far this season:

Loggerheads: 94,667 nests 🪵

Green Turtles: 10,603 nests 🟢

Leatherbacks: 2,152 nests 🪙

Kemp’s Ridley: 15 nests 🐢

Your continued support plays a massive role in helping track, monitor, and protect these vital species during their nesting journeys. Let’s keep our beaches clean, dark, and flat to give these hatchlings and mothers the best chance possible!

Who’s watching who?

Spotted some unexpected visitors swimming just past the surf line today! It looks like a few small sharks decided to cruise right by the shoreline.

Everyone on the beach was glued to the water—definitely a mix of pointing, confusion, and a little bit of healthy hesitation as people tried to figure out exactly what they were seeing in the waves. The emerald water is so clear right now that you could see their shadows perfectly.

Always amazing (and a little humbling) to remember we share the water with some pretty cool marine life.
