he Indian trails and stagecoach trails crossed in this location. Now resides a relaxing get-away, built around the recently restored Indian Spring Hotel Museum. Originally called the Stagecoach Inn, it is the building where the Treaty of 1825 was signed giving most of Georgia and Alabama to the United States. Make it a day trip with the family or spend the weekend browsing all of the history, shops, and natural beauty at The Village. Come stroll through the Whimsical Botanical Gardens and experience “accidental learning.” Our gardens are divided into the seven continents, giving you a taste of natural beauty from all over the globe. Our shops include Vintage Post Antiques and Collectibles, Mrs. Lee’s Stagecoach Sweet Stop, Ladybugs and Tadpoles Children’s Store, Big Chief Country Store, Daisy Pearls Women’s Boutique and Watkins Outfitters. The Arts Center featuring local art and consignments and the Australian Amphitheatre are our newest additions. The Holloway Cottages offer full kitchens with granite counter tops, family room, spa bathrooms, 1000 count sheets, high definition televisions, and many more lavish amenities. You will also notice that each cottage has its own artistic character. Unique art pieces, some local, some from far away, are placed throughout each luxurious cottage. Pinky’s Parlor is a cozy dining area and venue decorated with fireplaces, native stone, antique window tables and teak furniture imported from Asia. If you’re hosting a party, having a wedding, or just wanted to relax with a sandwich from the Big Chief, Pinky’s is the place. The Indian Springs Resort is a gorgeous restored home with stone terrace and pool, that can host a wedding for up to 400 people. This is only a brief description of what The Village has to offer. 📜 Today in Georgia History – April 30, 1825

On this day in 1825, one of the most dramatic and divisive events in Georgia’s early history unfolded along the banks of the Chattahoochee River. Creek warriors carried out a sentence of their own law, surrounding the plantation home of William McIntosh, setting it ablaze, and killing the powerful chief who had once stood among them.

Born around 1778 to a Scottish father and a Creek mother, McIntosh moved between two worlds with unusual ease. He spoke fluent English, adopted many aspects of white Southern culture, and built strong ties with influential Georgians—including George Troup and David Mitchell. A wealthy planter and enslaver, McIntosh embraced a lifestyle that increasingly put him at odds with traditional Creek values.

The breaking point came in 1825, when McIntosh signed the Treaty of Indian Springs. Without the approval of the full Creek Nation, he agreed to cede nearly all remaining Creek lands in Georgia to the United States—reportedly receiving personal financial gain in the process. Under Creek law, such an act was considered a grave betrayal. The penalty was clear: death.

Just days later, that sentence was carried out. McIntosh’s killing was not simply an act of violence—it was a reflection of deep divisions within the Creek Nation at a time when pressure from the United States was mounting and Native lands were rapidly disappearing. His death marked a turning point, foreshadowing the forced removals that would soon follow and forever reshape Georgia’s landscape and its people.

A moment of history as complex as it is tragic—where loyalty, culture, and survival collided.

We’re so excited to welcome Springside Coffee and Roots Outdoors to our community!
☕ Springside Coffee Company is now open—stop in to start your day with a great cup of coffee or breakfast, and stay for lunch too.

🕖 Cafe hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 7am–2pm

🏹 Roots Outdoors has relocated to the Village and features a full archery pro shop with a full-time bow tech, expert service for bows, guns, and rifles, and a new indoor archery shooting range. They’ll be offering hourly and monthly range rates, plus a retail space with clothing and shoes.

🕙 Retail hours: Tuesday–Friday, 10am–6pm | Saturday, 9am–5pm
