Mountain Shadows Retreat Premium Private Vacation Home Rental. Let your cares melt away in the fresh mountain air. Perfect for any shared experience with family & friends.

Mountain Shadows began in 1975 when our father, Steve Clausman, purchased the property and gave it the name. What a view and what a house. But a house is a house. “Clausie” always had an open door policy and filled the place with a continuous cast of characters from all walks of mankind. We called them friends and family. Nestled in Foresthill, California, Mountain Shadows Retreat is (1) hour drive from Sacramento and (2.5) drive from Downtown San Francisco. We invite those who wish to escape the city and discover their mountain spirit for special occasions from 50-150 closest friends and family. Corporate business events include lodging for 5-50 persons to support team building and planning. November thru April are prime time for Holiday celebrations and business retreats. May-October celebrates weddings, reunions, and all the outdoor activities the Foresthill divide is known for including white water rafting, hiking, biking, fishing, horseback riding, hunting, geology, Sugar Pine Lake and The American River. Beautiful things happen all around us at Mountain Shadows. It may be the sound of wind coming thru the canyon into the trees or birds and butterflies migrating north. But I believe its sharing Mountain Shadows with our guests that creates the positive energy, keeping the property alive and well.
