In 1996 my husband, then boyfriend, drove me 10 hours southwest of our home in Dallas to introduce me to his first love, the Davis Mountains. It was love at first site for me too and once we were married 6 months later our first investment together was a piece of land just outside of Fort Davis. After visiting as tourists for 20 years we finally took the plunge! We found our dream house and made the move from East Texas in 2018 to become full-time Fort Davis residents. It was the best decision we ever made. One of my favorite parts of the house was a guest bedroom the architect perfectly designed just off the rooftop deck. While I was remodeling it, I began calling it the Treehouse as it felt like a grown up version of our tree fort when we were kids. For a while it sat being rarely used which seemed a shame after the careful renovation. Then I started loaning it to friends of friends and the feedback was amazing. It turned out everyone loved it as much as I did. A little thought and some preparation later, I listed on Airbnb and within 24 hours I had a reservation and the fun began!
