Congratulations to Gloria Moreno for receiving the September Core Value Award for Excellence. She joined the Indian Lodge custodial team in 2025 taking the place of long-term employees who retired. Gloria jumped right in and hasn’t dropped the ball once. She takes pride in her work, enjoys interacting with guests, and loves working within the mountains. Gloria also enjoys cooking, listening to music, and spending time with family. “Live today like it’s your last day” is her motto.

Next time you are at the Lodge, look for Gloria and thank her for her dedication to this wonderful place.

Are you a natural leader who takes pride in creating a clean, welcoming environment for guests? We’re looking for a Housekeeping Supervisor to join our team at historic Indian Lodge in the Davis Mountains.
This position leads our housekeeping team, oversees daily operations, maintains high standards of cleanliness and hospitality, and helps prepare the Lodge for special events and seasonal activities.
If you’re organized, dependable, enjoy working with people, and want to be part of caring for one of West Texas’ unique treasures, we’d love to hear from you!

Thanks to local bird experts, Chris and Pam Pipes, who spotted this rare Ovenbird today at the Interpretive Center bird blind. This warbler usually doesn’t fly this far west, as you can see by its range map. They have an olive back with black stripes on a white breast.

They also spotted a Red-breasted Nuthatch and female Bullock’s Oriole.
