Barry and I had a wonderful experience celebrating our anniversary at Canterbuy Royale. It's not just a meal, which I could write an indepth review about, the whole experience is unbelievable. I truly felt like we went back in time where aesthetics at a dinner table were more of a norm, than an unusual experience. The China, crystal, silverware, the table setting, the way our napkins were folded, the butter knife, and since it was our anniversary, Chef Barbara and Chef Renee went to the trouble to serve our butter in shape of a heart. Oh, did I mention, the music? It was a custom music playlist, which was chosen with just wonderful taste, to enhance our conversation, not drown out our conversations with one another. We had a private dining room and were waited on hand and foot, making us the stars of the evening. There is artwork everywhere, mostly done by Renee who is a first-class artist. This was the top service in our galaxy. Dining at the Canterbury takes you away from problems and anxieties. Magic. Now of our dinner. It was amazing. We had beef wellington, cooked to perfection for my taste. Tender as can be. The soup unbelievable. Fabulous special salad. The dessert perfect. Oh, the coffee the best ever which took them 5 years to perfect. Spoil yourself and eat at the Canterbury Royale, in Fort Fairfield, Maine. My best, Lizzie

Erin from Maine Life Media based in Portland and Vanessa from "Your Maine Concierge" based in Rockland, with friends Nick and Will. A Treasure
A magical experience – you will feel like you’ve been dropped into a fairy tale. The cottage is immaculate and filled with lovingly hand-painted artwork. At mealtime, you will be treated like royalty by the chefs. Breakfast was exceptional. The bed is soft and comfy and the kitchen area is a convenient and nice feature to have. The cottage is in a calm, quiet location where you can easily enjoy the sounds of nature all around you. The attention to detail across the entire experience reflects the obvious passion the owners have for this place, and they could not have made me feel more welcome. This is a once-in-a-lifetime stay and a true treasure hidden in the enchanted woods of northern Maine!

Greetings, Great news, James has paid what he owed. Many, many thanks to all who have encouraged, comforted, guided, and supported us. James claimed that he spent two days with Vrbo but couldn’t reach anyone. I spent the day yesterday with Vrbo and they have absolutely no record that he reached out to them. Anyway, I believe that the people writing in is the reason James paid us. So again, thank you for making it possible to receive our dues. You are the greatest support system ever!!

Greetings, we’d like to share this situation that happened to Canterbury Royale Enchanted Cottage in the hopes that businesses might avoid this same issue. We use Vrbo to rent our cottage. In February of 2023, James Murchison and his wife from Missouri reserved the cottage for July 20, 21 and leaving on the 22nd, however stayed an extra night leaving Sunday morning, the 23rd after attending the 50th Presque Isle Class Reunion. Being new to the Bed and Breakfast industry, we take responsibility for not looking more closely at his reservation. I thought he would catch on to the oversight and take care of it. We did not realize he only paid for two days through Vrbo. However, I contacted James, James said “he would pay and who to contact at Vrbo, all information was given, however, days later and still no payment through Vrbo from James for his third night. To pay it is just a matter of pressing a “Pay” button on the Vrbo site. Also, there is no recourse through Vrbo, they are unable to obtain payment for his third night. We trusted him to pay for the third night either directly to me or through Vrbo. Being a small business, it is hard to withstand any loss of money and the underhandedness of dishonest people.
