Nearly four years after Hurricane Ian destroyed the Fort Myers Beach Pier, reconstruction is finally set to begin.

Lee County will break ground on the new pier on **Friday, August 21**, marking another major milestone in the recovery of Fort Myers Beach. The replacement will be longer, wider, and designed for the Gulf environment—with completion currently expected in 2027.

🔥 **If you see smoke near Southern Serenity, don’t be alarmed**

Fort Myers Beach firefighters have been using the hurricane-damaged home next door to Southern Serenity for hands-on training this summer, including controlled burns and emergency-response exercises. It’s an unusual sight, but also a valuable opportunity for local crews to train in realistic conditions.

What makes this especially meaningful to us is that Southern Serenity is one family-owned vacation home—not an agency managing an inventory of properties. Today we're closing a chapter that many of you helped us write.

For nearly four years, many of you have followed Southern Serenity's journey through Hurricanes Ian, Helene, and Milton.

You celebrated with us.
You prayed for us.
You encouraged us.
You checked on us.
You even booked stays simply to support our recovery.

We will never forget that.

This week, we quietly retired the dozens of hurricane update posts that documented every step of that journey.

Not because they aren't important.....but because they served their purpose.

Southern Serenity has been rebuilt.

Fort Myers Beach continues to come back stronger every day.
And it's time for this website—and this chapter of our story—to focus on what it was always meant to be:
