QUALITY INN CHARGED $50 FOR LAMP NOT BROKEN
While on vacation last week in Florida (January 11-12, 2015), I was charged $50 extra on my credit card by General Manager Sonny Patel of Quality Inn in Fort Pierce, Florida (772-460-9855) for breaking one of these lamps, when the pictures clearly shows that the lamps were not broken. This is a scam, practiced by unsavory hotel managers, to increase room revenues.
QUALITY INN RAISED ROAD DAMAGED CAR UNDER CARRIAGE
The under carriage of my vehicle was damaged by the raised road that enters Quality Inn hotel from the back entrance in Fort Pierce, Florida. The "engine shield" or belly pan was ripped from the under carriage of my white VW vehicle on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Quality Inn hotel in Fort Pierce, Florida. This caused the belly pan to drag on the ground when driving and rub against the front right tire where it is also connected. This is a serious driving hazard if traveling at high speeds of 40 mph to 70 mph.
Volkswagen in New Jersey estimate the repair cost at $149.55.
I discovered the problem on I-95 South going towards Jupiter Beach and put on my flashing hazard lights. I reduced speed to about 40 mph, which is the minimum speed on that part of I-95. I existed the highway pulled over and examined the vehicle. We pushed the hanging belly pan up against the engine's under carriage and were able to make it to Jupiter Beach, but it was clear that this was no solution, just a temporary patch.
Upon parking we examined the vehicle further.
Volkswagen is closed on Sunday. They are the only people with replacement parts for the engine shield.
We were able to get the belly pan to stay up by purchasing a pair of pliers for $12.45 pliers at Walmart in Jupiter Beach and try to lock it in place. We drove the car back to the hotel and then back to New Jersey and took it to the local Volkswagen dealer in New Jersey who knows the vehicle well.
The estimate from Volkswagen in shown as a jpeg photo.
Quality Inn needs to fixed the rear road that enters their hotel. It is raised to a high level when entering from off the street. I am sure other vehicles were similarly damaged.
The Building Department of St Lucie County http://pandapublicweb.cityofpsl.com/ should never have approved the building plans of Quality Inn in Fort Pierce with such glaring raised road defects as it damages the under carriages of vehicles that enter Quality Inn';s parking lot that could result in serious accidents on the highways and roads.
We were fortunate to discover the problem early, purchase a pliers tool at Walmart in Jupiter Beach and patch up the problem until we got home in New Jersey.
