First up: the Northwest Florida Fair rolls into the fairgrounds September 29–October 3, with all the classic rides, games, and fair food you'd expect. Then the entire month of October belongs to the 78th Annual Destin Fishing Rodeo, free daily weigh-ins from 10am to 7pm at Destin Harbor, open to anyone who wants to watch anglers bring in everything from red snapper to king mackerel.

For most Florida visitors age 16+, saltwater fishing requires a Florida license unless a specific exemption applies. Examples can include fishing aboard properly licensed charter vessels or from a pier holding the applicable pier license—but do not assume your location qualifies.
