History lesson for today...

What is a "Bowery"?

Historically, the word bowery comes from the Dutch bouwerij, meaning a farm or farm lane. In many river towns and older Midwestern communities, "the bowery" was used informally to mean the main commercial street, promenade, or gathering place.

Fountain City residents apparently used "The Bowery" as a local nickname for the downtown business district rather than as a formal street designation.

The La Crosse Corvette Club drove over for lunch....the streets of City of Fountain City sure look pretty with about an extra million dollars of sports cars parked around! The Beautiful Buffalo County country roads provide a lot of fun exploring too!
