Brethren,

This Tuesday, February 17, we’re gathering at Middlesex Lodge for what promises to be a truly special and meaningful evening and you won’t want to miss it.
We will be presenting on Freemasonry in Brazil, exploring the powerful and often dramatic history of the Craft in the 1800s. We’ll discuss the political and religious challenges Masons faced, the role of Freemasonry in Brazil’s Independence, the end of the Empire, the beginning of the Republic, and the abolition of slavery.
We’ll also talk about Dom Pedro I a Mason who later closed Freemasonry and examine how the three major Masonic jurisdictions in Brazil emerged. We’ll even touch on a fascinating chapter of history: how American evangelicals who migrated to Brazil used Masonic temples for worship and went on to found the city of Americana in São Paulo.
In addition, we will cover elements of the symbolism of the Entered Apprentice degree in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite and share insights about the seven rites practiced in Brazil today.
The presentation begins at 6:30 PM.
We are expecting a strong turnout, including many Brothers from other Lodges, so please confirm your attendance to ensure we have enough food for everyone.
It’s going to be an engaging, educational, and historic evening. We look forward to seeing you there!

Winter Solstice Blessings!

In the silence of the longest night,
The Light withdraws in quiet grace.
Yet within the heart of deepest shadow,
The first dawn already stirs.
Rough stone, attentive heart,
The Mason keeps watch and waits.
For where darkness reaches its limit,
The Light returns, steadfast and eternal.
