Tip for clients to get the most out of your piano tuning appointment!
Let's talk quick about how to get the most out of a tuning appointment, as a client. Tuners don't need much in order to give you our best, top notch work, however, we do have just a couple of needs. I mean, as a client, you're paying us to service your piano so you want to get our best work, right? First, and most importantly, we need QUIET. Our work depends on using our ears. Literally. If we can't hear, we can't tune. The quieter the better. Now, speaking for myself, some light chatting and such is no biggie. What makes tuning difficult though are things like: TV, music, vacuuming, lawn mowers, power tools, lots of yelling and robust conversation, video games etc. Second, we need space. Make sure we can access the top, to remove the lid, for uprights, and lift the lid, for grands. That also means everything needs to be taken off the piano before we can work. We also need space on the right side for our elbow and our tuning lever. And then, we need space to either sit (I usually sit unless the piano is tall) or stand in front of the piano, so we need space and access in front of the piano.
This will help us help your piano!! Did I mention that we need it quiet???? Just making sure...
