Please read this includes Franklin NC we are having our Pumpkin Fest the 3rd Saturday in October please share!

The Dept of Transportation has lifted ALL travel restrictions in Swain, Cherokee, and Graham counties. Our counties have seen a mass influx of cancellations and many are questioning if they will even be able to make it through the next month. Our most western parts of NC are open for business and in need of visitors to support their economies so that we can self sustain ourselves and not become a burden or take away from more devastated areas. Just as an example, my husband 's small business supports 30 employees and their families. He and other businesses are working tirelessly to make sure they all continue to have work and can continue to support their families and neighbors while also doing everything they can for the town and advocating for the whole county. I’m so proud of our small town for continuing to go above and beyond to support our hardest hit neighbors by continuing to stage supplies and support to anyone who needs help. That being said, if you can safely travel to any of these counties please visit! Come buy a coffee, have lunch/dinner in a restaurant, hike through the park, take rafting trip, take a train ride, rent a bike, take a guided fly fishing lesson, and shop in any of our cute little small stores. Rent a hotel room or a vacation house. We would love to have you in Bryson City this Fall! Drivenc.gov is a great resource for checking road conditions. Check out my post from yesterday on ways to help Asheville and other towns east of us.

Franklin is open and still needs visitors to support the local economy 🎃

An update from the Franklin, NC area of western North Carolina.

The conditions here from are vastly improved. We did not suffer the flooding that has so severely affected areas east of us.

We wanted to let you know that the town of Franklin and surrounding communities are open and are here for you. If you are planning to travel to the area, please ensure that your lodging is still available and if not, make definite arrangements before arriving.

Most businesses are open, we have just about all restored internet and cell service, though there may be some areas still affected that we aren’t aware of at this time. Please also understand that not all businesses can take debit/credit cards, so plan accordingly to have cash on hand. Banks in the area have also been affected and cash availability in town has been limited.

Please know that our businesses and community are here to welcome you if you’re wanting to visit the mountains in the coming days and weeks. We appreciate your support during this time and look forward to seeing you.

Our annual Pumpkinfest is scheduled to be on October 19th and is still happening.

We have a 30/50 amp spot open water, electric. WiFi and sewer at site! We’re open year round!
