We put a lot of thought into enrichment around here.

Our animal care team creates enrichment for our rhinos, giraffes and Bruno every day—things that encourage natural behaviors, provide mental stimulation and give our animals something new to explore.

So when Sam went to all the trouble of putting together a special enrichment for Justin, our biggest rhino, she was hoping he’d be excited.

Justin’s reaction?

👀 “Absolutely not.”

😂

It took him a while to decide that maybe—just maybe—it was worth investigating.

That’s the thing about caring for animals: enrichment isn’t about forcing an interaction. It’s about providing opportunities and understanding each animal well enough to let them engage on their own terms.

Justin eventually came around.

One of the perks of working at Longneck Manor is getting a chance to experience the property from a guest’s perspective.

Today, I took my laptop into the Giraffe Suite because, for once, it wasn’t occupied. 🦒💻

I’ve always loved watching guests arrive and seeing their faces when they realize they’re going to wake up with giraffes just outside their windows. Sometimes they’ll admit they wondered about the price—but by the time they leave, we hear the same thing again and again:

“It was worth every penny.”

After spending a little time working from the suite today, I have to agree.

Best office view ever.

And now I’m wondering… how am I supposed to go back to my regular desk? 😂

It's National Nonprofit Day! 💚 And we thought Bruno deserved a little spotlight.

When people think about wildlife conservation, they often picture protecting animals in the wild—and that's an incredibly important part of the work.

But conservation also begins with caring for the animals right in front of us.

At Longneck Manor, animal care is at the heart of everything we do. Our giraffes, rhinos and Bruno receive regular veterinary care, wellness checks, preventative medicine and diagnostic care when needed.

Today, Bruno is getting a closer look with some X-rays. 🦥🩻

Longneck Manor is also home to the Longneck Manor Conservation Foundation, our nonprofit conservation arm supporting wildlife conservation efforts beyond our property.
