Today, after 10 1/2 years, I served my last breakfast at The Schooler House. Our guests were wonderful and I had a bit of a lump in my throat at the end of the meal. It's been a wonderful experience and I've loved every minute of it. Thank you all for your friendship over the years! Now, on to our next adventure!

Hello friends, guests and Facebook followers.

For the past 3 years The Virginia Living Magazine has conducted a contest for “The Best of” in the State. The Schooler House has been extremely fortunate to have an amazing following that resulted in ranking 3rd, 2nd, and 1st in each year. I can’t tell how happy this made us to receive the honor.

After our 1st place selection in 2014, I said we wouldn’t campaign The Schooler House again; leaving room for others. However, I have heard from so many friends and former guests that have expressed their intention to vote for us anyway. You are all so sweet!

Thank you all for those who have voted already! You have made our 10 year B&B journey the most amazing experience. As you probably know, we have put our home on the market and will be moving on when we sell. It will be bittersweet; it’s a very special place!

What a great weekend!! Over 1,300 people went through The Schooler House for the Candlelight Tour on Saturday and Sunday. A visit by Santa was great fun and thrilled our guests as they waited on line. Thank you to our decorators and fantastic hosts and hostesses!! It was such a fun weekend.

And… best of all, the bouts returned home from camp with "Cousin Bruce"! Baths for both boys tonight and all is back to normal.

The 2014 Candlelight Tour is underway! All is decorated and staged. Posting a few pictures; I'm not the best photographer so some may be dark. Will find some better from others and share later. Paul and I are relaxing upstairs for a while. Weather is perfect!

The Schooler House is preparing for the Candlelight Tour this weekend. Decorators are working their magic! The hostesses visited last night to scope out their stations and clarify scripts. The "boys" are at camp and the house is quiet. Not for long!!

Downtown Fredericksburg’s “Open Late Fridays” campaign begins Friday, as merchants prepare for their annual holiday open house this weekend.

Well, we've finally decided to do it. The Schooler House Bed & Breakfast is on the market. It's a very difficult decision; I've loved this house since the day I walked in 17 1/2 years ago. But, times change and we change. The B&B has been successful for 10 years and we've met the most amazing people! I hope whomever is the next steward of this home will consider continuing it as a B&B.
