We’ve been sharing our process of restoring and preserving our beloved Loeffler-Webber house over the past few weeks! Built in 1846, this amazing piece of history is one that we cherish and worked hard to restore. Book your stay in this house today!

The details that built Texas.
Between each of the original logs at the Loeffler-Weber House (1846) is something called chinking.
Chinking was traditionally made from a mixture of clay, lime, sand, and natural fibers. Early settlers used it to seal the gaps between logs, protecting the home from weather while allowing the structure to breathe.
Nearly two centuries later, portions of the original chinking are still intact — a remarkable glimpse into early Hill Country construction.
Every step of our work is being done with the goal of preserving these original materials and honoring the craftsmanship of the builders who came before us.

📍Loeffler-Weber House
During recent preservation work at the Loeffler-Weber House (circa 1846), we uncovered something extraordinary — the original hand-hewn log structure that has supported this home for nearly 180 years.
These logs were placed by early Fredericksburg settlers and remain remarkably intact. Even more incredible is the original chinking, the historic mortar used between the logs to seal the walls.
We are carefully preserving every detail as we continue restoring this historic property.
