Good morning, Texas. Sunday is here, and August has apparently decided weekends don’t qualify for a heat discount.

North Texas could see a few afternoon storms, East Texas is keeping the humidity cranked up, Central Texas gets another sunny and hot day, South Texas continues making every shade tree look like prime real estate, and West Texas stays mostly hot and dry.

By afternoon, much of Texas will be well into the 90s. Dogs will be searching for cold tile, swimming pools will be calling, and somebody will look at the yard and decide mowing on the Lord’s Day probably wasn’t meant to happen anyway.

A few spots may catch some rain later. Everybody else, find some shade, grab something cold, and enjoy a slow Sunday. Monday will get here soon enough. 🤠☀️🌡️

Good morning, Texas. Sunday is here, and if you’re wondering whether August brought cooler weather, the forecast would like a quick word with you.

North Texas could see a few afternoon thunderstorms, East Texas is keeping the humidity thick enough to make your sunglasses fog up before you leave the porch, Central Texas gets another full day of sunshine, South Texas continues proving that parking in the shade is worth an extra five-minute walk, and West Texas is delivering another day of dry heat that still feels like opening an oven.

By afternoon, temperatures will climb well into the 90s across much of the state. Somebody will claim they’re “just running one quick errand,” then spend half the trip hopping from one air-conditioned building to the next. Ice chests will be full, swimming pools will be busy, and every ceiling fan in Texas will be putting in overtime.

By evening, a few lucky folks may catch a passing shower while everyone else enjoys that one brief breeze that tricks you into thinking fall is on the way. It isn’t. But at least the sunset will make up for it. 🤠☀️⛈️🌡️

🏞️ Enchanted Rock just got way bigger.

Enchanted Rock is opening its Backcountry Area to visitors for the first time after the popular Texas park more than doubled in size. The new self-guided trails are rugged, remote and built for hikers looking for more than the usual dome climb.
