From our first review to our most recent—shared exactly one year apart—we welcomed guests from 14 states to our little red caboose. Seeing it all together is something we never expected and will never take for granted. 🚂

🚂 One Year on the Rails ❤️

One year ago today, we officially opened the doors of the H&R Caboose Roost.

After years of dreaming, restoring, planning and wondering if people would love this old caboose as much as we did, we were finally ready to welcome guests aboard.

What a first year it has been!

Just a few of the many guest experiences we'll always remember from Year One:

❤️ A gentleman reminiscing about Saturday train rides with his grandfather, an L&N Railroad conductor.

🚂 Kids whose train dreams came true—and more than one who decided they wanted to live in the caboose forever.

❤️ Couples celebrating anniversaries and leaving with a memory they'll treasure for years to come.

🌿 Families telling us they unplugged, slowed down and truly connected—and others making the caboose their home base for hiking, swimming, fishing and exploring.

✨ Fireworks and sunrises from the cupola, evening frog concerts, and guests telling us, “We can't wait to come back.”

And perhaps one of the best signs of all? We just ordered our second guestbook because our wonderful guests have nearly filled the first. ❤️

We've learned a lot, we still have plenty of ideas and dreams for Year Two, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who has stayed, followed along, shared our story and cheered us on.

Thank you for an unforgettable first year.
