Tonight, we came together to celebrate one of the sweetest chapters in West Baden Springs Hotel history. August 28 marked 30 years since the hotel’s archway was illuminated in its entirety for the first time in 58 years, a milestone that helped mark the beginning of an incredible comeback.

Three decades later, we gathered under those same lights with ice cream and community, just as Mr. and Mrs. Cook did 30 years ago, to celebrate how far West Baden Springs Hotel has come. Thank you for being part of the story!

Nestled among the walking paths and towering oaks of West Baden Springs Hotel’s East Park once stood a remarkable two-level covered bicycle track. Cyclists raced along the wooden, banked upper level, while guests enjoyed afternoon strolls on the promenade. Below, horse carts and pony rides circled the track. Measuring one-third of a mile around, it even enclosed a baseball diamond and three tennis courts.

The structure may be gone, but its footprint remains. Today, you can follow the same route on East Park’s gravel trail, tracing the path of this unique piece of West Baden history.
