Head on over and “Sea for Yourself”
As some as you may already know today is the day that the doors of the Quarterdeck Restaurant will officially open as a new restaurant after 45 years!! Thank you to all the staff, the wonderful community, customers, family and vendors throughout the years that made it all possible. This decision has not been an easy one for me to make, the Quarterdeck is very special to me, and I will miss it and all the people! Who will I make bisque, crabcakes, and pie for now?
As many of you may or may not know, I grew up in that building from a very young age. The Quarterdeck was my second home, and the staff was part of my family. My Great Aunt Gina and my Great Uncle Russ, along with their two sons John and Eddie opened the Quarterdeck Restaurant in 1978, the same year I was born. Prior to that they ran the Old Lighthouse Restaurant for many years in Buxton. I was raised in the Quarterdeck from the age of three when I came here to live with my Aunt Gina and Uncle Russ. Many of my best memories took place there over the years. My daughter Kalynn has grown up there as well. She started at 3 months in a playpen, and just turned 15. Many of you have watched her grow up, some of you have watched both of us grow up. Time sure does fly by, and that is why I have decided to spend as much time as I can with her.
The memories that were created between those 4 walls are endless, I could write a book, and I will treasure them forever. I know many of you have created wonderful memories there as well, and I’d love for you to share them here! Let me hear your stories and see your old pics. Let’s keep the memories alive. As one door closes, another one opens. Cheers 🥂 to a new chapter! 💞
