This little one was spotted two weeks ago on the power line. Staff have started seeing them pop up all over the park. If you see a fawn in the woods, please leave it alone as mama isn't too far away!

Tomorrow June 13th is another Georgia Free Fishing Day! You do not need a fishing license to fish in public waters. Come out and see what you can catch!

Damselflies!

These flies are similar to Dragonflies but are usually smaller and have slimmer bodies. Their wings get folded along the body when at rest, unlike dragonflies which hold the wings flat and away from the body. Damselflies are predatory insects and actively hunt and eat other insects! This one was found on the Overlook Trail!

The fish have arrived for tomorrow's Kid's Fishing Rodeo! We are excited to host you tomorrow for this Monumental Event!! Thanks to our friends with Fisheries for delivering them!

Fishing starts at 9am at the Day Use Boat Ramp. Take a left when you get into the park and drive all the way down to the end of the road. See you then!!

Easter Cauliflower Mushroom

This mushroom is blooming near the Visitor Center again this summer!! This mushroom has a large, cauliflower-like structure with tightly packed overlapping lobed clusters. Its color can range from creamy white to pale yellow and typically grows on the ground, often near the base of hardwood trees. This one is at the base of a hardwood stump!!

This mushroom is a decomposer that can be found in grassy areas, alone scattered or in small groups. The bodies grow at night after rain and will self-decompose after spore dispersion. Otherwise, they are quickly dried up in morning sun! We found these after the much-needed rain last week!!
