"A few days away can change the way the rest of your month feels."

Rest isn't time lost. It's energy gained.

Earlier this week, a guest stopped by before checking out and said something that stuck with us: "I didn't realize how much I needed this."

After welcoming guests to the Goldmoor for all these years, we're still surprised by how often we hear some version of that sentiment.

June often arrives with a full calendar. Father's Day, graduations, weddings, summer plans, and the demands of everyday life can quickly fill every available space. Before long, the calendar starts making decisions for us.

That's why we're writing to encourage you to do something simple: Create a little space of your own.

One of the things we love most about hospitality is watching guests arrive carrying the weight of routines, responsibilities, and long to-do lists, only to leave a few days later feeling noticeably lighter.

Sometimes that comes from sleeping in. Sometimes it comes from uninterrupted conversations. And sometimes it comes from simply experiencing something new, a meal you've never tasted before, a view you haven't seen in a while, or a place that encourages you to slow down and enjoy the moment you're in.

We suspect most of you already know that. The challenge is remembering to give yourself permission. Sometimes a few days away isn't an indulgence. It's exactly what we need.

Perfect Spring Retreat

"My husband and I recently stayed at this charming bed and breakfast, and it was just what we needed for a relaxing getaway. From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff made us feel right at home. They were attentive and always ready to help with a smile, making our stay even more enjoyable.

The views from our room were absolutely breathtaking—rolling hills and vibrant sunsets that took our breath away each evening. It was the perfect backdrop for a peaceful retreat.

The breakfast each morning was delightful, and delivered to our room each morning. It was a great way to start our day before exploring Galena. It is also located a little out of town which was refreshing after a day in downtown Galena.

Overall, this bed and breakfast exceeded our expectations with its warm hospitality, stunning scenery, and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tranquil escape!

"My wife and I needed to get away to completely unplug. We absolutely picked the right place! Beautiful, peaceful, restful and relaxing. We can’t wait to get back!
