Love the Log Cabin! Phenomenal lamb chops

I suspected this one was a youngster.

There was something about the brick, the straighter lines, the more “modern” look of it that made me stop and wonder where it fell in Galena’s timeline.

And sure enough… 201 N. Main dates to around 1900.

Built in the Neoclassical style, it was once the First State and Savings Bank — a history it still announces quite proudly across the top of the building. I’m rather glad no one ever decided those words needed to come down.

But perhaps just as much a part of its story now is what waits behind those doors.

The Log Cabin.

One of those wonderfully old-school Galena experiences — a proper steakhouse, cocktails, that fabulous vintage sign out front, and the feeling that dinner itself is an occasion.

In a town where we so often tell stories from the 1840s and 1850s, I rather like finding one of the “new kids” on the block.

After all, she’s only about 125 years old.

Only in Galena. ❤️

Grant Park is a lovely place to visit when you’re in Galena - check out the cannons!

Before Galena greets you with historic storefronts, church steeples, and winding streets… it welcomes you here.

Across the river, Grant Park has quietly stood watch for generations. The hillside, the monument, and the towering trees have become part of the town’s identity—a familiar sight that tells both visitors and locals they’ve arrived somewhere special.

Some places make a grand entrance.

Galena simply makes you feel at home.
