Join Ranger Jack in this basic overview of fishing, where you will go over the basic parts of a fishing rod, how to bait and cast, and important basics of fishing so you can develop an understanding that you can build on in the future. In addition, you will get to do some fishing yourself - poles and worms will be provided so you are not required to bring any of your own equipment! You may bring your own poles, bait, and tackle.

For the purposes of this program, a valid TN fishing license is required for any participant over 12.

See the park in a new perspective as we hike after dark! We'll discuss how different wildlife see our park, and why it helps them survive.

This hike is ~1.5 miles long and includes portions of the Mayo Wix Trail, Shoreline Trail, TN History Trail, and the High Ridge Trail. This trail does not include our infamously steep stairs.

Feel free to bring flashlights, water bottles, and similar hiking gear. We recommend bringing UV lights or red lights to help you see the park a little differently! Ranger Abby will have a small number of flashlights for participants to borrow.

Join Seasonal Ranger Cade at Shelter 2 on Thursday August 13th at 5 pm to learn all about the turtle species that call our park home. We will be discussing each species, the habitats they call home, and what we can do to protect them.

We will also bring one of our animal ambassadors, Shelldon, and Eastern Box Turtle. We will discuss Shelldon's story and ways that we can help keep our turtles safe.

REGISTRATION required so we don't overwhelm Shelldon with a large crowd.
