Attention budding builders – sandcastle builders that is. Galveston is hosting a free, family-friendly event to help beachgoers create spectacular sandcastles with guidance from a pro.

Visitors to East Beach can participate in “Sandcastle Days” to receive free sandcastle-building lessons from a professional sandcastle builder. The events will take place at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Lessons are by the water’s edge, straight down from the East Beach Pavilion, Saturdays thru September 2. Registration is not required.

An unbelievably great view of the Galveston seawall circa 1910, just a few years after this first phase of construction had been completed in 1904. There are so many great things about this photo. I especially love the two children with the walking man, bottom right. The way they are dressed is fantastic. One of them appears to be wearing a kind of Buster Brown suit. And the image is tack sharp. Wowzers!

SHORT WEEKEND GETAWAY
We had a wonderful time at Bahama Breeze! The area under the house was perfect for our group of grandparents, parent and 5 teenage boys. They set up under the house, listened to music, played games and grilled. The bedroom situation was ideal as well as all 5 boys fit perfectly upstairs. The two downstairs bedrooms were spacious and the beds absolutely the most comfortable of any VRBO house we’ve rented. This is a beautiful well-maintained property and we loved every minute of our stay! Thanks Nicole!
