📖 Did you know?

The Blue Herron was built in 1868 by Rebecka C. Olmstead Behrman and is recognized as a Galveston Landmark home.

Historic homes like this have survived hurricanes, generations of change, and more than 150 years of island life.

That’s part of what makes staying here feel different.

You’re not just visiting Galveston — you’re becoming part of its story for a little while. 🤍🩵💙

🥖 One thing about Galveston… we know where to find the good stuff. 👀

If you haven’t checked out Bleu Sucré Galveston yet, add it to your list immediately. They bake and serve authentic, scratch-made French pastries, artisan breads, and savory café items.

It’s one of those places that somehow feels cozy the second you walk in.

We love seeing local businesses like this continue to grow and become part of people’s traditions.

👉 If you've been, what’s your favorite thing to order there?

🌊 Our next beach clean-up at Fort San Jacinto Historic Point is coming up Saturday, June 20 — and we need more of our community this time. 🤍

This shoreline continues to face a serious litter problem, and while our volunteers have already removed over one thousand pounds of trash, the reality is… we can’t tackle it alone.

We’re proud to partner with Owl Creek Landscaping & Design and Tam's Bark & Meow Concierge to help keep showing up for this island month after month.

Every bottle removed.
Every fishing line picked up.
Every extra set of hands matters.

Bring the kids. Bring a friend. Come help us protect the coast we all love. 🌊

There’s something really special about everyone ending up back together at the end of the day. 🌅

Sunburned. ✅️
A little sandy. ✅️
Probably tired. ✅️

But together. 🫶

That’s what we hoped The Blue Herron would always be — a place where people reconnect, slow down, laugh louder, and make memories that stick around long after the trip is over. 🩵

🌊⛱️ Looking for fun things to do while visiting Galveston?

Two local pages we absolutely love following are Dave in Galveston and My Galveston: Adventures of a Local Tourist. 🩵

These two do an incredible job highlighting the people, businesses, events, hidden gems, and everyday fun that make this island so special.

From local restaurants and live music to family-friendly events and unique island finds, they’re constantly out supporting the community and helping others experience the best of Galveston.

Honestly, if you want great ideas while planning your stay at The Blue Herron, they’re both worth following. 👏🌴

We’re grateful for the way they continue showing love to small businesses and helping shine a light on the heart of this island.

👉 What’s the coolest local spot or event you’ve discovered through them?

☀️🌊⛱️ Summer at The Blue Herron looks a little like this:

☕️Coffee on the porch.
👪Barefoot kids running through the house.
🏖Beach towels hanging outside to dry.
🌭Late dinners after long days in the sun.

Simple things. Good people. Slow moments together.

That’s the kind of summer we love most. 🌊🩵

Month after month, we return to clean the same stretch of shoreline at Fort San Jacinto Historic Point.

Why? The answer is simple:

Because it matters.

Every piece of trash removed is one less hazard for marine life. One less plastic bottle breaking down into the bay. One less fishing line threatening birds and wildlife.

And honestly… because this island deserves people who care enough to keep showing up.

That’s what community looks like to us. 🩵
