Today marks the 190th anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto, and one of Galveston’s most important landmarks tells part of that story!

The Texas Heroes Monument at 25th & Broadway was unveiled on April 21, 1900 as part of Henry Rosenberg’s gift honoring the heroes of the Texas Revolution.

At the top, the 22-foot Lady of Victory extends a laurel wreath toward the San Jacinto Battlefield. Standing 74 ft tall and made of granite and bronze, it was built to tell the story of the Republic of Texas, not just Galveston 🇺🇸🤠
