Today we celebrate our Aunt Dorothy Trentham’s birthday. This time a year ago, we had just celebrated her 95th birthday. She’d had a full day of visits with family, lunch in the office, cake, and gifts, went home that evening, and she gently folded her hands in prayer, and fell asleep in the arms of Jesus. While we knew she was celebrating in heaven with our Uncle Bill, it was surely not what we expected. She loved her guests at the Mountain Heritage, and she loved spending time with family and friends. We will spend our day today remembering Aunt Dorothy by working together with family and crews to work towards the goal of getting The Mountain Heritage Inn back open, complete with all the wonderful renovations that have been in progress. To our valued guests,

We wanted to share an important update regarding our anticipated reopening. While we have been working hard to complete our renovations, unexpected construction delays, back ordered supplies, delays in getting materials, and contractor delays have created unforeseen bumps in the road that have caused things to take longer than anticipated. We unfortunately will not be able to open by mid-June as originally projected.

We know many of you have been looking forward to visiting us, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We have already begun calling guests that have reservations coming up, and will do our best to accommodate a future stay with each of our valued guests. Our goal is to ensure that when we do open our doors, we can provide the most exceptional experience that you deserve.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support as we put the finishing touches on our property, making sure all the improvements are complete and up to your expectations. We will share a new opening date as soon as it is confirmed.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. We still believe that our family- Uncle Bill and Aunt Dorothy's legacy- is to press on, and to continue to carry out their wishes of keeping The Mountain Heritage Inn in operation. Buford the bear stopped by for a visit while we were planting some dogwood trees yesterday evening. 😲

If you ever see a bear on property (or anywhere really), look from a distance but do not approach them. We love our bears! If they become too comfortable with humans, their fate is not good. Don’t ever feed them. Photos are great but only if you’re a safe distance away. This is also why you won’t see trash cans on our property anymore. Help protect our black bears 🐻
