Great news!

🚨 Smokies Update 🚨

Despite the ongoing federal government shutdown, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park will fully reopen Saturday, October 4 thanks to a major partnership among local cities, counties, the State of Tennessee, Friends of the Smokies, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

🔹 Popular areas like Cades Cove, Sugarlands Visitor Center, and Chimneys Picnic Area will reopen.
🔹 Local and state partners are covering $61,703.18 per day to keep the park running during peak fall season.
🔹 Funding ensures restrooms, staff support, visitor services, and wildlife protection remain in place.

🌄 With more than 12 million visitors in 2024 and over $2.8 billion in local economic impact, keeping the Smokies open is vital for our region.

🍂 Visitors are encouraged to come enjoy fall in the Smokies — one of the most popular times of the year!

Great news! The road between Cherokee and Gatlinburg will be reopened at 4 PM today Friday September 12th!

Good news! Tell your friends. Newfound Gap Road reopens today at 4 p.m. This is the road between Gatlinburg, TN & Cherokee, NC, you can travel between the two cities once again.
