What a week at the Historic Gatlinburg Inn.

Inside the Inn, we welcomed songwriters, artists and music fans for the Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival.

Outside, downtown Gatlinburg was packed with Jeeps and visitors for the Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion; as well as a whole bunch of hard rockers in town for the Mountain Music Festival.

There was music. There were old friends and new friends. There were stories, songs, laughter and a whole lot of activity right outside our front door.

Weeks like this are a good reminder of what makes the Historic Gatlinburg Inn so special.

We are not just close to the action. A lot of the time, we are right in the middle of it.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this past week such a memorable one.

There is always something interesting to see in downtown Gatlinburg. 🐻

Take a closer look at this photo and you'll spot a bear near the bottom.

No need to alert the park rangers, though. This particular bear is a sculpture made out of nails!

It's just one of the countless little sights, shops, attractions and surprises you'll find while exploring downtown Gatlinburg. And from the Historic Gatlinburg Inn, you're already right in the middle of it all.

Today, the Smoky Mountains lost one of their brightest lights.

Dolly Parton was born right here in Sevier County, and she carried the music, stories, humor and heart of these mountains with her everywhere she went.

Here at the Historic Gatlinburg Inn, music has always been part of our story too. Songs have been written here, played here and shared between generations within these walls. It's hard to think about the music of East Tennessee without thinking about Dolly.

She never forgot where she came from. And around here, we will never forget her.

Thank you for the songs, the laughter, the generosity and the love you gave to these mountains and to the world.

Rest in peace, Dolly. ❤️
