Spring is in full on mode and we are getting ready for the trail to open. Time to introduce the new kitties. Growing fast and into mischief of course. We have Machie the 7 month old tortoise shell rescue kitten from Morristown area. Bright, fast, fully ready for prime time. She is so friendly we are thinking of a library card type system… check out the cat and hand her back in when ya leave.

And then there is 4 month old Osha. Think crew title - occupational safety and health. She is from a breeder of Maine C***s around Chattanooga . Very chill and prefers just being inside at the moment. Many lessons still to learn and muscle to build. Gonna be a heavy lifter.

Certainly a lot of winter happening this week. We got around 20” not counting drifting and snow bombs. Last night, just as it seemed things were melting a bit, we got another dusting of about 1” with a small layer of ice underneath. It all is so beautiful and good days to work on spinning and taxes and candles and all that stuff!

It is Seed Swap time! Bring some seeds to leave and take some seeds to plant! We will have a table set up in the shop at Ely's Mill starting Sunday February 1st through March 1st. The table will stay up the whole time, so feel free to stop by at your convenience. We are open 7 days a week 10ish to 4ish during the winter. This is totally free and a wonderful way to stay connected to this mountain community. Just bring some seeds to leave for someone else and take some new seeds for a fun garden experiment. Happy garden planning!

So grateful for all the endearing comments about Moshi. Missing that good mill cat this morning as we reflect on the solstice, the holidays, and the year to come. We celebrated 100 years of Ely’s Mill this year. Thank you for your continuing support and help. We couldn’t do it without you.

It is with tears, smiles, and memories of endearing lap time, respect for the claws, and sweet little hand licks that we share of our friend Moshi's passing from this physical plane.

Dear Moshi - You were a great kitty and companion. It is totally fine that you didn't want everyone to touch you, but chose to hang out with all of us anyway. We love your tenacity, s***k, spiciness, and mouse guarding skills. Thank you for choosing us to be your people and sharing your life with all of us.

Moshi has had a lovely winter rest, and is ready to see everyone when the Roaring Fork Motor Nature opens on March 29th. (but no pet😆).

We are open every day until then too, you just have to come in the back way instead of going around the motor nature trail.
