Fantastic news! Newfound Gap Road is officially open today, well ahead of the expected opening by 18 whole days! A tremendous thanks goes out to the construction crews who worked hard to allow all of us leaf peepers to see the colors of the Smokies this fall.🫡💯🍂

UPDATE- Gatlinburg Police nothing found. Parkway has reopened!

Gatlinburg says they have evacuated the area near the SkyPark after a suspicious package was found. Extra police officers have been dispatched to the scene.

Parkway and River Road are blocked off in Gatlinburg Tuesday evening. I've heard why, but I will let the news come out with the information. Just hoping for the best. This tough week continues...😕

GPD STATEMENT 9:30 PM

The Gatlinburg Police Department is currently responding to a report of a suspicious package in the 700 block of Parkway. The Police Department was dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:45 pm. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic are being rerouted along this portion of Parkway and Maples Lane as a precaution.

The Gatlinburg Police Department, Sevierville Police Department, Pigeon Forge Police Department and Sevier County Sheriff’s Office are responding to the scene.

10:15 Update: All clear.🙂
