🏔️ The Smokies start their fall transformation in September. Higher elevations can begin showing hints of fall color while lower elevations remain green.

🌡️ September brings cooler mountain temperatures, making it a popular time for hiking, exploring, and enjoying the Parkway without the heat of summer.

🦋 Wildlife is especially active. You may spot black bears, elk, deer, and plenty of other Smoky Mountain wildlife—but remember to admire them from a safe distance!

🌄 Clingmans Dome—the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park—can be significantly cooler than Gatlinburg, so layers are a good idea.

🍁 Peak fall color doesn't usually arrive in Gatlinburg in September. That's actually part of the fun—you get to watch the mountains slowly change as autumn approaches.

🐻🏔️ FUN FRIDAY FACT! 🏔️🐻
Did you know the Great Smoky Mountains are home to an estimated 1,900 black bears? 😲

That means there are about two bears per square mile in the national park! 🐻🐻

And here's an even more fun fact about The Cajun Condo... we usually have a bear family visiting our complex daily! 🐻❤️🐻

Of course, wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, and we always admire these beautiful animals from a safe distance. But there's definitely something exciting about looking out and seeing one of our Smoky Mountain neighbors! 😍🏔️
