Dolly Parton put Sevier County on the map, then turned around and rebuilt it when it needed rebuilding. After the 2016 wildfires tore through Gatlinburg, her My People Fund raised close to $9 million and got checks directly into the hands of nearly 900 families who lost their homes. That was the fastest, most direct disaster relief this county has ever seen.

She didn't leave home when she made it big. She built Dollywood instead, and decades of jobs and visitors followed. Every part of this area, including the guests who stay with us, owes something to that decision.

Rest easy, Dolly.

Day 5 of 5. Just stay in.

You drove up here for the mountains, but nobody’s making you leave the cabin today. Robe on, coffee going, the view still does its job from the window.

The hot tub doesn’t care what time it is. The rocking chairs on the deck don’t either. Fireplace going while the fire pit outside waits its turn tonight.

That’s the whole plan. No itinerary. Just the cabin doing what it does best.

Day 4: Cumberland Gap day trip

Sometimes, the need to explore wins the day and the Tri-State Peak is an easy drive from the cabin.

One trail, three states. Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee meet at a single point and you can stand in all three at once.

You’re already in Tennessee. The extra hour to Cumberland Gap is nothing compared to how far you came to get here in the first place.

The views up there are worth the climb alone.

Visitors and guests should continue to be bear-wise. There are new laws going into effect that underscore the level of caution to be used while in the area.

🚨 STARTING WEDNESDAY… THIS COULD COST YOU $250 😳🐻

Feeding a bear in parts of Tennessee could soon come with a $250 fine… or more.

A new law goes into effect July 1, 2026 making it a misdemeanor to feed black bears in posted areas — including many places around the Smokies.

And yes… that includes:
👉 Tossing food out for a “photo moment”
👉 Leaving trash out where bears can get it
👉 Trying to get closer for that once-in-a-lifetime video

📍 In places like Great Smoky Mountains National Park, it’s already illegal — and penalties can be MUCH higher.

⚠️ Here’s the reality most people don’t realize:

A fed bear = a dead bear.

Once bears associate humans with food, they become aggressive… and are often euthanized for safety.

💬 Be honest… have you ever seen someone feeding a bear in the Smokies?

👇👇👇
And do you think the $250 fine is enough… or should it be higher?

📢 SHARE THIS to help protect the bears (and visitors too)

Day 3 and we traded the cabin for Pigeon Forge.

Coal-fired pizza and axe throwing at West By God, a stop at Hulk Hogan’s wrestling shop because obviously, racing at the Pigeon Forge Racing Coaster (kids were obsessed), and a tasting at Tennessee Homemade Wines to balance it out.

The Smokies aren’t just hiking trails. Even better, this is all just minutes from the cabin.

Day 2 of our “5 Nights” series focuses on one of the area’s largest attractions - Dollywood. It’s a fantastic family experience!

Day 2 of 5. Dollywood delivered.

Roller coasters, good food, and enough scenery to remind you why people keep coming back to East Tennessee. If you haven’t been, put it on the list.

Outdoor relaxation? Yes. Explore Nature? Also, yes…

Spend time lounging on the deck while the kids explore or go along on the adventure.
